What should I expect from therapy?

Therapy is different for everyone. No two people are exactly alike. In order to tailor your treatment to your specific goals, problems, needs, and strengths, we will spend our first session reviewing and exploring your history. We will then discuss how long projected treatment may be. We can also discuss types of treatment modalities/interventions best for suited to you.

What if I don’t know what my goals are?

Don’t worry! Therapy is a collaborative process. We will work together to develop your goals. Your goals may have different components to them also.

For example, I can help you to capitalize on your strengths to achieve what you want or to make healthier decisions. I can help you feel better on a daily basis by restructuring your thinking. I can help you to have healthier relationships with those around you. I can help you to improve your communication skills. I can help you to reach your personal and professional goals. I can also help you to identify other goals or changes that would benefit you.

Remember, your therapy is tailored to YOU, so your goals can be modified at any time!

How long is treatment usually?

Treatment duration varies. Rest assured, at the beginning of therapy, we will discuss how long you can expect your treatment to last based on your presenting problem(s) and other individual factors.

How often do I see you?

Generally, we begin with 1 session per week (~60 minutes per session) for the first month, and then we can modify (increase or decrease) the frequency as needed.
